The
Irish School of Landscape Painting, founded
by Kenneth Webb in 1957, is the original
and foremost Holiday Painting School in
Ireland. Each summer the School offers
courses in some of Ireland’s most
breathtaking locations. With 50 years experience,
these are chosen carefully, taking into
account each participant’s skills.
PAINTING COURSES - Summer painting courses
are conducted in Wicklow and Connemara
by experienced professional artists. Absolute
beginners as well as more advanced students,
are equally welcome. Individual expression
is encouraged in an instructive and friendly
atmosphere.
WORKPLAN - Students paint outdoors every
day, weather permitting. Tuition is from
10 am to 5 pm with a one hour break for
lunch. (Bring your own thermos and packed
lunch!). On our week-long holiday courses,
one day mid-week is left free. On this
day you may like to join in some of the
activities arranged by your hotel. There
is no tuition on the “free day.”
DEMONSTRATIONS- Each day begins with a
demonstration from the tutor in oils, watercolours,
acrylics, gouache, or mixed media. Afterwards
he or she will help each student to a personal
interpretation. Subject matter is constantly
varied so that those joining for several
weeks need not fear unnecessary repetition.
Advanced students are encouraged to explore
their own ideas and will receive advice
as required.
STUDIOS - Studios are always available
in case the weather drives us indoors.
Demonstrations indoors when necessary,
as well as lectures and discussions using
video on different artists and techniques.
BOOKINGS: A non-refunable deposit of 50 euros must be sent made payable to Susan Webb, at RiverRun Studio, Nun's Cross, Ashford, Co. Wicklow, to secure place.
WEEKENDS FOR ART GROUPS: Special themed
courses arranged by request. Reduced fee
for groups of six plus booking together.
Susan is available to give demonstrations/lectures for art groups in the Dublin/Wicklow
area.
ART MATERIALS - available locally. Hire of easel/stool by request only.

EXHIBITION: An exhibition of paintings
by tutors and some of our members will
run at Joyce’s Gallery, Recess, Co.
Galway from May to September annually.
MASTERCLASS: These classes take the student
to a more advanced level which includes
abstraction - colour and texture. These
are the original MASTERCLASSES, conducted
under the personal supervision of Kenneth
Webb and Susan Webb.
