Celebrating 50 years of Holiday Painting in Ireland with exhibitions by Kenneth Webb at the James Gallery and Susan Webb at Kennys Gallery

This year celebrates the 50th year of hosting Holiday Painting Courses in Ireland. Kenneth started going to Clifden in Connemara back in 1957 on a cart road from Galway. It took over 5 hours drive on a single lane dirt road providing you did not meet another car! Reflecting back to that time you can still see some of the students that started then, today attending MasterClasses as accomplished artists. Now Kenneth teaches Masterclass with Susan, his daughter, and teaches in oil, watercolor, pallete knife technique, acrylic, mixed media and watercolour, pastel, and drawing as he has done for 50 years. Back in those days, he was a struggling artist and needed the money. Today as perhaps the most successful artist in Ireland, he still teaches. He enjoys passing his skills on and it gives him a perspective of where he has been and where he is now. He paints every moment and at 80 is even more productive then he was back then at 30. He is more focused and just as intense. Susan brings vitality and youth to the school and as one of the most important equestrian artists in Ireland teaches both weekend courses, summer courses, and weekly courses. These are at RiverRun Studio in Ashford and Wicklow and MasterClasses with her dad in Clifden. You will find her teaching students that her father taught back in the early 60's. Both Kenneth and Susan will have exhibitions this summer to celebrate this important anniversity.

Kenneth Webb will be exhibiting a wide variety of his famous work at the James Gallery on the 7th of June. At 80, Kenneth remains one of the most productive and successful artists in Ireland with a constant flow of painting through auctions and the Galleries. These exhibition at the James Gallery have always been a great success and they have always had his best work. They have been a sell out, so if you are interesting in a Kenneth Webb, contact Pat Hopper, the proprietor as soon as you can.

Susan Webb's exhibition at the Kennys Gallery on July 30th will be showing many new painting which are primarily Equestrian for the race week. If you are interested in her painting, please email Susan for an invitation. Race week is an exciting time in Galway and the exhibition a nice visit to Kenny's Gallery which is part of Galway history. There is an opportunity to purchase one of Susan's latest pictures, prints, or just browse and enjoy the appreciation of the horse.

As one of the leading Equestrian Artists, her work is even more sought after. Recently a limited edition print of the Galway Races, fetched 500 Euro in auction. Please send an email to Susan for availability of other limited edition prints which are available for 200 Euro.
