CONNEMARA COURSES - Ballinaboy Studio, Clifden
Clifden... has always been one of our most popular centres with our spacious studio at Ballinaboy on the Ballyconneely road, two miles outside Clifden. The setting is idyllic: the Twelve Bens behind us, circled by heathery bogs and glinting lakes; the Coral Strand a few minutes walk down the road; beyond, the Atlantic Ocean fingered by rocky peninsulas sprinkled with a pattern of islands. No time need be wasted driving long distances to find subject matter. Ballinaboy Studio is right at the centre of the most paintable parts of Connemara.
Clifden, the ancient capital of Connemara, is a small town of great character, made famous by Yeats and Augustus John. Social and recreational facilities are excellent. There is an excellent 18 hole golf course about four miles from the Studio. Non-painting companions need never be bored. Weather, alas, is not always dependable so do pack some woollies, warm socks and sturdy waterproof shoes.
Timetable
Each course commences on Saturday at 7:00 PM with a punch reception kindly provided by Abbeyglen Castle Hotel - followed by dinner and a slide show. Non-painters and non-residents are all welcome. Sunday's class assembles at Ballinaboy at 10:30 AM.
