| Masterclass and Holiday Courses Information: |
| Workplan:
Students paint outdoors in the Irish Landscape every day, weather permitting.
Tuition is from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one hour
break for lunch. (Bring your own thermos and packed
lunch!). On our week-long holiday courses, one day
mid-week is left free. On this day you may like
to join in some of the activities arranged by your
Hotel. |
Master
Classes: Kenneth
Webb, RWA, FRSA, is one of Ireland's leading
artists, with paintings in collections world-wide.
Until 1959, he was head of the painting school in
the Ulster College of Art, and then resigned to
found the Irish School of Landscape Painting. He
has lectured for the extra-mural department for
the Queens University, and at the Victoria and Albert
Museum, and the Tate Gallery. As early as the 60's,
he was at the forefront of Art Tutoring and demonstrated
live, for the first "learn to paint" programme
on Irish TV. He has continued to demonstrate in
all media and still keeps this active demonstration
as major part of his teaching methods.
This year Susan Mary Webb ,DA, FILS, will be assisting
Kenneth Webb in the turoring so that more attention
can be given to each individual. The aim of the
Master Class is for each student to develop a personal
style. And it is essential that all applicants have
had a basic training in the principles of design
and composition, which is available through the
Irish School of Landscape Paintings Holiday Courses.
Every application must include photographs of current
work, and details of previous study.
The minimum period of attendance necessary for membership
of the Master Classes is five consecutive days for
a fee of 550 Euro. Master Class students usually
book two consecutive courses and this is offered
at a discounted rate of 1000 Euro for the full 10
days tuition.
Full MasterClass fees must be paid well in advance of the class since space is limited.
Clifden Master Classes are be limited to 10 students
per class. Priority will be given to students who
book two consecutive courses. The Clifden Master Classes held in May are particularly recommended for those wanting to paint wild flowers and the bogs.
It is very important that you book space early,
because these courses are limited in size and
very popular. The dates given are full working
days (10am to 5pm weekdays, 10.30 to 5pm Sundays).
Kenneth Webb reserves the right to cancel a Master
Class, if necessary. Fees will be refunded, or
alternative date given if it is possible.
All enquiries should be directed to Susan Webb.

| Demonstration:
each day begins with a demonstration from the tutor
in oils, watercolours, acrylics, gouache or mixed
media. Afterwards he or she will help each student
to a personal interpretation. Subject matter is
constantly varied so that those joining for several
weeks need not fear unnecessary repetition. Advanced
students are encouraged to explore their own ideas
and will receive advice as required. |
| Transport:
Transport from the recommended hotels to the studio
can be arranged on request |
| Studios:
Studios are always available in case the weather
drives us indoors. Demonstrations indoors when necessary,
as well as videotapes on painters and techniques
are offered. A large selection of 35mm slides, which
are used as lecturing aides. |
